In working to get Zimbabwean children to reach their full potential, Tugwi Trust works to ensure that students are given an opportunity not only to excel in the classroom but also on the sports field through the hosting of an annual sports festival in Chivi. The Sports Festival started off as the Midzi-Mazarire soccer tournament which then expanded annually into a festival including other sports disciplines like netball, volleyball, and handball for both boys and girls as well as girls’ soccer. The event is held in July of each year at Jenya High School and up to 10 schools take part The festival also seeks to identify any exceptionally talented students so as to assist them progress in their chosen sport discipline.
Objective
The goal of the project is to host a community-inclusive day where all children are able to showcase their talent and those that are exceptional and identified for further development.
